The Forks Disc Golf Course is situated on a floodplain between two forks of the Illinois River. This area is mostly flat with lots of open space. There isn’t a lot of rough to deal with. The course will become much more challenging when the hundred or so small trees which have been planted here start to mature.
At the beginning of the course, there is a kiosk with course map and sponsors. The tee pads are large, trapezoid shaped and concrete. The tee signs are metal models covered with fiberglass and the baskets are Discatchers with the red numbers on top. There are plastic laundry baskets at each hole used for garbage cans.
The course was a project of the Ford Family Foundation’s third Illinois Valley cohort of the Ford Institute Leadership Program. 26 cohort members, handfuls of community volunteers and local donors contributed to the effort.
