The Illinois Valley Community Development Organization (IVCanDO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to collaborative programs and inclusive partnerships. Our mission is to champion sustainable development that fosters vibrant economic, social, and cultural vitality. For more than 25 years, we’ve worked at the heart of rural southwest Oregon—listening, building, and growing alongside the community through seven diverse program areas.
Our Business & Economic Development Work
Since 2000, the IVCanDO Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) has supported small businesses in Southern Oregon with loans up to $25,000, featuring competitive interest rates, low fees, and flexible terms.
In 2024, IVCanDO expanded its economic impact through a new grant and revolving loan program in Jackson County. Funded by Oregon Housing and Community Services PIER initiative, this program serves small and microenterprise businesses affected by the 2020 Labor Day fires—supporting resilience and long-term recovery.
Position Summary
The Business and Economic Development Manager is responsible for overseeing IVCanDO’s small business and economic development programs. This includes managing loan and grant programs, coordinating with community and funding partners, and evaluating the effectiveness of our services.
The position reports to the Executive Director and is encouraged to take a leadership role in shaping program strategy and operational improvements. This role also represents IVCanDO in local business network meetings, building relationships and serving as an ambassador for the organization’s mission and offerings.
You’ll join a supportive, respectful team and collaborate closely with staff, board members, partners, and funders to grow IVCanDO’s economic development impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of IVCanDO’s business development programs
- Work with prospective loan clients to evaluate eligibility and guide applications
- Schedule, facilitate, and document Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) committee meetings
- Manage loan origination paperwork, account monitoring, and collections
- Maintain strong client relationships and work proactively with borrowers to prevent loan defaults
- Use loan management software to track accounts and generate reports
- Pull and review credit reports, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
- Review and update program strategies and policies
- Strengthen relationships with local businesses, community partners, and funders
- Pursue funding opportunities to grow the RLF and related programs
- Attend business network meetings to promote IVCanDO programs and services
- Evaluate program outcomes and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with staff to capture and share client success stories that promote program visibility
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Skills & Experience:
- Proven ability to manage projects independently and proactively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.) and Zoom
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional discretion
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and dependable vehicle for off site visits
Preferred/Bonus Experience:
- Experience with loan processing or management
- Background in small business (owner, manager, or business education)
- Understanding of government contracts or funding compliance
- Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
