Oregon Department of Energy
Community Heat Pump Deployment Project
In 2024, IVCanDO partnered with Energy Trust of Oregon and Rogue Climate to apply for the role of Regional Administrator for the Community Heat Pump Deployment Project. We were proud to be selected to serve the Southern Oregon Region, which includes Josephine and Jackson Counties. The program wrapped up at the end of 2025 and helped support the installation of 104 heat pumps in Josephine County, with 7 homes also receiving additional eligible upgrade grants. In Jackson County, the project supported 63 heat pump installations, including 24 homes that received additional eligible upgrade grants.
City of Cave Junction
Lighting and Security Program
From 2022 to 2023, IVCanDO worked alongside the City of Cave Junction to distribute grant funding from Josephine County aimed at improving safety in the downtown corridor. Through this program, 16 local businesses installed security cameras, and 17 businesses upgraded their outdoor lighting, helping create a safer and more welcoming downtown.
FEMA – Josephine County Illinois Valley Fire Safety and Resilience
In 2017, IVCanDO applied for a grant through Oregon Emergency Management to utilize FEMA funding to improve fire safety and resilience in the Illinois Valley. Through this program, 127.5 acres received fuels reduction measures and 22 buildings had metal roofs installed.
Kerby Water District
This complex project took over 10 years to complete and greatly improved the lives of Kerby residents. Partnership with IVCanDO linked Kerby property owners and Josephine County to win $3.2M in grant and loan funds to design and build the system, form the district as a legal entity, and establish long term supply contract with the City of Cave Junction. The new water system also provided strategically located fire hydrants that reduced fire insurance rates and increase fire resiliency for Kerby property owners.
Historic Cascadia Signage Project: Redwood Hwy 199
This project followed the highly successful Oregon Caves Hwy 46 Historic Signage Project, which revived the 1930’s-era Cascadia style signs along the corridor that link Cave Junction to the expanded Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve. The new signage project helps visitors to our community identify key locations and improve way-finding for those traveling through the gateway community of Illinois Valley and Cave Junction.
Pacific Power Foundation Awarded $2,500 towards the Cascadia Signage project in 2016. Project partners included US Forest Service, National Park Service, Oregon State Parks, and the City of Cave Junction.Frequently Asked Questions
Not necessarily. Our team works to secure the highest incentives available for each residence, but many factors determine what incentives a household qualifies for. Some residences have received heat pumps at no cost; however, there is no guarantee that this will happen for every home.
