COMMUNITY  CALENDER

Our Mission:

The Illinois Valley Community Development Organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to develop, implement, and evaluate a living Illinois Valley Strategic Plan that encourages stable community development and aims to improve local economic and social conditions through cooperative programs and partnerships in rural southwest Oregon.

Welcome to the Illinois Valley Community Development Organization

We came to be in 1994 after rural Josephine County was designated a federal enterprise community, one of the original 36 selected nationwide and the only one in Oregon. Along with the designation came a $1.3 million federal grant to be used to implement the community’s strategic plan drafted by what was then called the Illinois Valley Community Response Team.

Since then, these funds have been used to attract additional public and private monies, on a seven to one ratio. Areas of focus included tourism, infrastructure improvements, educational support, projects to improve quality of life for residents as well as economic development.

In 2005 the Illinois Valley Community Response Team (IVCRT) adopted the name “Illinois Valley Community Development Organization” (IVCDO) or IVCanDO to better reflect the organizations purpose.

Today, the IVCDO has become self-sustaining through a host of community projects including operation of the Illinois Valley Visitors’ Center, a visitors concession with the nearby Oregon Caves National Monument, a micro-loan program benefiting local businesses and a wildfire fuels reduction program.
